..... to search for ancestors gone to America in the nineteenth century. Annie, brought with her a document written by her mother Paulette (92 years) in which she evokes her family memories.
Paulette (photo opposite) born Charouleau, is the daughter of Paul whose father Louis was son of Sebastien.

In her document, she writes that 2 of Sebastien's sons went to America, but she can not remember their name ... maybe Albert ...
She found photographs taken in Tucson .....

The research....

The research began in 2013. Laurette went to search the registers of civil status of the municipality of Montardit, while Paule, went to the archives of Ariège Foix. At the same time, the internet opened the way for a multitude of documents ... (Passports, digitized newspapers, municipal archives ...)
From the key words "Tucson charouleau":
The first documents were the tomb of Pierre Charouleau

Going further ...

By leaving an email address on the Findgrave site, very quickly, Robert Simpson (photo opposite) who lives in Saddlebrooke (Tucson) contacted us ... He was also doing a research on the old ranchers who had lived near the house. he, including Pierre Charouleau.
By exchanging our respective documents, we were able to trace the life of the Charouleau.

Mike Speelman

Also we were contacted by a Tucson historian, Mike Spellmnan (pictured) who was writing the life of Anna Charouleau the aunt of Peter and John. Thanks to Mike, we discovered this aunt whose existence we did not know.
He publishes in "The Journal of Arizona History (Summer 2015)" the life of Anna Charouleau. He meets Robert Simpson. They will exchange a lot of information. Robert will come with Jan his companion in France in the footsteps of Charouleau. On this occasion, he gives Paulette Fournié the document of Mike ...

Coming from Robert Simpson in France September 2015

This photograph was taken in the hamlet of Montardit, Le Fort. In the background the birthplace of Charouleau, in the foreground, Robert and Jan surrounded by some of the descendants of Sebastien Charouleau.
For them, Anna is their back, back aunt while Pierre and Jean are their backs, back cousins.
